Memorial Day Opportunities

At the capitol today, I picked my spot to photo the speakers. I could tell it was a good spot when the local pro PJ kept sitting in front of me to take the same shots. I got a couple shots of the back of his head - LOL.

Just attempting a bit of humor, Bill! 🙂 I do like that photog shot; you got a good angle on him, and I think it's fun to shoot other shooters.

That's one of our fellow RFF'ers! I'll let him identify himself if he wishes. A sharp eye might notice he's shooting a Bessa R. An even sharper eye might notice he's got a Canon 50mm f1.4 hanging off the front of it. That's also what took the photo of me that I posted in this thread - it is a very nice lens.

Best Regards,

Bill Mattocks

Well, I've gotten some Memorial Day pics back from the lab.
Even included one of the local PJ "barging in". 😛

Washington State's capitol building is very striking (as most are), great place for a Memorial ceremony. 😎

Thanks Doug,
I still have some slides due back from the lab this week too. 😉
All taken with Bessa R and 35mm Skopar lens.

I posted some in my gallery, but here are a few.

I have one more roll to scan from the day before's parade in my home town.

Nice shots Rover,
I especially like the back-lit shot of the gravestone. 😎

No tiltle ...

No tiltle ...

A few words by Bob Dylan:

Come you masters of war
You that build all the guns
You that build the death planes
You that build the big bombs
You that hide behind walls
You that hide behind desks
I just want you to know
I can see through your masks

You that never done nothin'
But build to destroy
You play with my world
Like it's your little toy
You put a gun in my hand
And you hide from my eyes
And you turn and run farther
When the fast bullets fly

Like Judas of old
You lie and deceive
A world war can be won
You want me to believe
But I see through your eyes
And I see through your brain
Like I see through the water
That runs down my drain

You fasten the triggers
For the others to fire
Then you set back and watch
When the death count gets higher
You hide in your mansion
As young people's blood
Flows out of their bodies
And is buried in the mud

You've thrown the worst fear
That can ever be hurled
Fear to bring children
Into the world
For threatening my baby
Unborn and unnamed
You ain't worth the blood
That runs in your veins

How much do I know
To talk out of turn
You might say that I'm young
You might say I'm unlearned
But there's one thing I know
Though I'm younger than you
Even Jesus would never
Forgive what you do

Let me ask you one question
Is your money that good
Will it buy you forgiveness
Do you think that it could
I think you will find
When your death takes its toll
All the money you made
Will never buy back your soul

And I hope that you die
And your death'll come soon
I will follow your casket
In the pale afternoon
And I'll watch while you're lowered
Down to your deathbed
And I'll stand o'er your grave
'Til I'm sure that you're dead

What is with this guy Jan Cornelius? I'm not even sure he was alive when these lyrics were written. A much different context from today. And certainly a much different context from the situation for those honored at Memorial day.

Jan was the individual who began a rather nasty rant against Americans the other day in another thread. Even though the person he was ranting at wasn't American.

Can we keep the forum 90% on rangefinders and photography? Jan? Can you hear me? Please stop taking cheap shots.

Rover, Very good shot.
I hope Jan remembers the people we're celebrating here hated war more than anyone, but died to keep their countries FREE from oppression.

I have suggested the possiblity of locking the thread. I don't consider myself reactionary, but this absolutely cheesed me off.

I'm hoping that if the thread is locked as was the other thread he soiled, others will begin to see him for what he is. (I had to restrain myself from name calling)
