Merkle Camera - please advise

Thanks, but it just wouldn't feel right for you guys to pay Merkle's debt. However, Brightsky's idea of a group letter is a good one. If I can muster the patience to write one, I'll post it to this thread and then anyone who feels like putting their name on the bottom can do so.

EDIT: Oh, and photo.net doesn't seem to have the appropriate forum for threads like this one, so I don't really know where to put it.

It's about a LTM to M adapter, so the Leica forum sounds good on Pnet... the rowdiest bunch is there anyhow.

If you used a credit card to pay thru paypal you may be able to claim against your credit card. I have guarantees with mine you may have them with yours if it was used for this purchase.

It appears they are claiming to have mailed the adapter , ask for the package tracking number also ask them to make a claim on your behalf under the Canada Post insurance use at the time of mailing.

It does seem strange that you are the first to have failure on delivery. Especially since so many others on this thread have received goods from this retailer.

Did you or they have your mailing address absolutely correct?
It is possible the package has gone somewhere else?

Good luck.

photonet does have a dedicated place to post feedback.

On the home page under the "Community" tab, select "Recommendations".

Select the choice, "Individuals selling photo equipment on the Internet." (I know it says individuals, but all the merchants are listed here too.

Scroll down the list and if you don't see an entry for Merkle already, add one and tell your story. Doing so may prompt others who have experienced similar to add their data.

Alec, not being a member of BBB is not an indicator. All one has to do to be a member is pay a fee to BBB. Good or bad retailers can join. Many good retailers don't bother paying the BBB membership fee.

Ronnie, I checked your post at Photonet. Don't get too disturbed about the 'f.raud' word advice, but it should be used judiciously. I say 'go get 'em' and don't let up until they settle. Regarding Paypal , you may have even less luck with them than this recalcitrant retailer for reasons given on the photonet post.

good luck

Glad to hear Ronnie, but anyway it's sad that one has to arrive to that point to get a mere refund. Shit happens, but if a dealer is so picky about having parcels lost and facing a refund, at least they could just make you pay for some inn-sewer-ants.

Ronnie

Very happy to hear that you did get your refund although the adaptors would have been preferred I am sure.

Hoot, I wonder if they ever shipped? I bet they forgot the first time. Then forgot the second time too. I think they would have been more communicative if the goods had been sent. Glad it is resolved. If I ever need advice on this type of thing, I'm calling you ;-)
