Hey All-

I got this fairly torn up leather case for a Barnack body along with some other parts (for LTM I use Canon, so I'm not familiar with which body it is for). Finally looked closer at it yesterday and discovered a metal shim inside the back. Is this support for the case itself, or to help film loading? I did some searching here and elsewhere and could not find any reference to a shim being in the case for either purpose.

See photos for better description.

Support for the case. Until film leaders were shortened there was no need to "help film loading". IIIc and later Leicas are a LOT stronger and more rigid than pre-IIIc.

Cheers,
