The outer curtains in my R3a are all grey. Most that I see are black/grey/black.

Did C-V decide sometime in the run that the curtains needed to be black/grey/black?

I notice that my example meters perfectly when a 40mm lens is mounted. It over exposes slightly when a 50mm is mounted and underexposes by about a 1/2 stop when the 25mm lens is mounted.
I have always wondered if this was becase all three of my outer curtains are grey.

Anyone else have grey/grey/grey outer curtains..??

Both my Bessa R2a and R have all gray curtains. My R2a is the first type as denoted by the single hinge rewind crank.

I have noted no particular exposure issues.

I primarily use 35's and 50's, but I'm always careful of the sky using my 21/4 since there's going to be more of it in the frame.

The curtains on my R2 are all gray as well.

I'm assuming the metering inconsistency you're encountering has to do with what's being included in the frame when you change lenses versus the actual curtains.

The amount of variance is well within a stop in both cases, so it's no big deal with neg film. I do notice that the Konica Hexar RF meters all three lenses flawlwssly and it does have the black/grey/black outer curtains.
