Meter on R3A

I have an R and an R3A. I find the R3A meter reading quite difficult to see in bright sun, as opposed to the R, which is pretty easy to see. Is there a trick to how one hold the camera so as to be able to see the shutter speed reading better?

You may use your index finger to shade the bottom of the viefinder. However I just try to keep my camera in a such a way that 40mm lines are clearly visible, which helps to see the readings.

Is there a difference in the display (metering - I know the frames are different) between the R3A and the R3M ?

The RXa shows the shutter time in automatic mode, and both the set and the metered shutter time in manual mode.

I find the 'readability' of the exposure meter in both my R3a and my R4m to be about the same. With both I need to keep my eye in the 'right spot' to see the values clearly. But it's not too bad. I got used to it quickly.

Most of the store(s) employees have never heard of a Bessa. I'm in San Francisco.

Amazing. I thought San Francisco was something like the art capitol of the US.

Anyway, where I live I recently went to the oldest photo shop in town and wanted to have a look at the latest Pentax DSLRs. A guy who I believe is the owner told me they had only Canons. I told him I wanted to continue to use my old lenses and had Pentax and Nikon lenses. No Nikon, as well, only Canon. Nobody would ever want anything but a Canon, he said. He could order a Pentax for me, he added. I said I wasn't sure and wanted to look first. We both shrugged, for different reasons, I guess, and I said goodbye.

While we are on the metering issue, can I ask what can be done in a low light situation where it appears to be hard to get a good exposure setting and switching between two shutter speeds results in an exposure reading that flickers between -2 to +2?

Hmm, I've never had that... Sounds like either an almost dead battery to me or probably a malfunction of the shutter dial?

It works normally as per normal. I'm not sure if the meter is confused due to the lack of light.

I think I will invest in a decent light meter for use in low light conditions.
