metering with hexar rf

Just got one a few days ago, it's very nice save for misbehaving framelines. Anyhow, I'm wondering, did your metering technique change when you got one? Do you use the semi-spot meter the same as a normal spot meter? How about the exposure compensation dial? Is that ever handy?

I will! The motor wind is going to make things much easier whilst driving, as will a SBOOI, when I find the right one. My little Pen is not happy about it. 🙂

I've had 1 for awhile & I don't believe my metering technique in using it is any different than it is for any other camera w/TTL metering (i.e., find a medium gray area in the scene & lock exposure from there). FWIW, I think the Hexar RF's metering pattern is less a semi-spot (like the Leica M6/M7) & more diffuse, like the center-weighted pattern on the Kyocera Contax G2 (w/which it shares a shutter, etc.). As on my G2 or M7, I rarely use the exposure compensation as I find it easier to just lock exposure where I want it or re-set the ISO.
