I know a few of you out there got a few C mount lenses sitting around and now there is an adapter coming out of Taiwan on the bay that will let you play with those lenses on your micro 4/3 cameras.

I also noticed that there is a M mount to m4/3 adapter coming out of Italy but it seems to just be the Chinese one coming out of Shanghai.

I'm confused about C mount lenses.
I thought the image circle was too small for m4/3rds. Is this not so?
If they cover, there certainly are a number of interesting posibilities out there.

I don't know about the image circle, but I thought c-mount flange-to-film (sensor) distance was 17.526mm, and micro 4/3 is 20mm. So unless I'm mistaken, the c-mount lens will have to be moved roughly 2.5mm into the throat of the micro 4/3 camera or no infinity focus.

EDIT: Apparently, recent c-mount lenses claim an image circle of about 11mm. Four-thirds sensor (same as micro four-thirds) is 17.3 x 13mm. So it does not seem to me that c-mount image circle would cover the sensor. Perhaps I'm mistaken - please advise if so.

Yes, C-Mount adapters must be recessed on the G1. C-Mount lenses are made for 8mm, 16mm, and 35mm formats, so some will cover the sensor, some won't.

Ah, I see. Very good. I guess with no flipping mirror to worry about, pushing the lens a bit into the body isn't as much of an issue. Cool.

Most 8mm lenses are 'D' mount which won't stand a chance of covering the area. I think only the H8 Bolex lenses come 'C' mount but wouldn't swear to it, nor their coverage.

As you say, if 'C' mount can be made to work there will be some scarily short focal length wide aperture lenses available for next to nothing....

I assume collimation will be fairly critical

There are people using 25mm f/0.95 lenses on the G1. That particular lens doesn't quuuiiiite cover the entire sensor, there is a bit of vignetting.
