Micro 4/3 Kit Lenses: Pany 14-45mm vs. Oly 14-42mm

While I am awaiting my E-P1 17mm kit to arrive, I am considering getting a zoom lenses to enjoy (after my M adapter arrives, of course). I don't own a single zoom lens, actually, so I'm looking forward to something new.

I'd like any user experiences with the Panasonic G1 and Olympus E-P1 kit zooms, respectively:

Lumix G Vario 14-45mm f/3.5-5.6

M.Zuiko Digital 14-42 mm f/3.5-5.6

I'd like one or the other to use with my E-P1. Experiences with either?

If you bother with the poll and chose Something Else, I'd like to what something else.

I think the biggest weakness for the Zuiko lens, for video at least, is the noise it makes! But it would seem like the best match for an e-p1

Thanks for sharing, Ken. I decided to go with the Oly lens (bought from Pop Flash yesterday) simply to make the set. Both the Oly and the Pany have similar shortcomings (reported, that is) with distortion and aberration.

Another reason I got the Oly is that the original Pany kit lens is slightly uncommon on its own. Regardless, both should be fun zooms—which I haven't used in, like, forever.

The Panasonic 14-45 is an excellent lens BTW. Since you are purchasing the E-P1, I would go with its kit lens.
