Oh drats.. there's a dustbunny on the sensor now.. :bang: Probably from the FED50..This is just plain fun..
A Hexanon 50/2, a Snapshot Skopar 25/4, and a FED50/3.5 collapsible..
So, my message to all you guys is to first blow away the dust from the old lenses before making these interesting camera/lens combo pictures..
In the meantime, I've got some cleaning to do..

I have large hands and tried both in the stores, the 5, although smaller, has the battery at a 90 deg orientation from the flat way it is in the 3, providing kind of a grip.
Either should be fine for non video use, but try them out in a store if possible, they feel different.

Only the front plate of the NEX5 is magnesium alloy, not the back. Also note that the handgrip shape is different on the two - the 5 protrudes more and the 3 is wider and shallower. This made more of a difference to me than the size difference of the cameras.

yes that is the only way to know for sure which is the best fit.

I've found the basic Leica glass (Summar, Elmar, Hektor) to be a real steal compared with other Pre-WWII
optics. I guess it's just about the most common out there. The Steinheil 85mm is also a bargain, as are the
usual Soviet suspects (Jupiter 8 and prewar Fed). I'm waiting for Santa to bring me the adapter for the Pen 38mm
so I can try it out, too. Fitting cheap camcorder UV filter rings for hoods has proven to be a money-saver, too.

nice collection

Curious if any nex users have had any luck with an E-mount (or mountable) fast manual C-mount lens between say 28 and 50 actual fl?
I've decided against the SLR Magic 35/1.7 E-mount ebay lens, as the curvature of field just seems a bit extreme.

Yeah, but as kshapero said, a whole lot of fun. I have put all sorts of crazy lenses on my NEX 5, including a CZJ contax-mount 18cm/6.3 Tele-Tessar K. The pictures were actually quite impressive for a lens built in 1937.

Something more unusual.
Works fine when limited DOF is requested, but it seems like the AA filter is limiting their resolution.

Finally at home...
What a great thread. I'm going to add some shots soon.
May I ask how you managed to get that viewfinder on the NEX?

Thanks a lot!
Here are three quick snaps from tonight.
With some lenses, the NEX looks neat:
With some it looks weird:

Man, thank you Sony for the open architecture on your lens mount. Lots of cool lens work great on these bodies.
