I've been looking for a decent--and free--pano stitching program. I think I've found it: Microsoft's Image Composite Editor.
Here: http://research.microsoft.com/ivm/ice.html
My first result with it:
Not a great photo but as a test, I'm happy with it.
Taken last Wednesday (29 Oct). The ground there is not level, I was standing up hill a bit from the buildings. The shot is from 5 pictures I took with my digi-crap, hand held. No tripod or pano head.
Easy to do; I just opened the images into the program wand waited. Cropped the resulting image to get a rectangle.

Looks good. THANKS for sharing this.
Would be curious how fast this is with large TIFF files.
I've had good experiences with the stitcher that's part of Adobe Photoshop CS2, but of course, that's not free.
But perhaps some people with CS2 don't realize that it's there...

Yaron,
This one took about 30 seconds or so. Only jpegs, though. And my computer is not slow but is not a speed demon either. I may redo this but open the jpegs as TIFF files first just to see what the speed is like.

Good God, you have that much snow already? All we have down here in Ithaca is a bit of fog.

Not any more, I just looked at the web cam for up there and it's all melted.
I'm currently enjoying the same weather as you; I'm home in Cortland for a few weeks before I head back up to chef for the winter session there.
