picnic like it's 1999
I heard from another member of this Forum that Milton passed away yesterday. I worked along side Milton for a few years in an ajacent department, but frequently helped with darkroom supplies, and Milton was a great guy. He was one of the few people I looked forward to seeing every day when I worked there. He always had a bad joke ready.
Milton worked for many years as a wedding and portrait photographer, before opening his own store. When the big NYC super stores killed his business, rather than be spiteful, Milton went to work for B&H. He faithfully served thousands of customers with his broad knowledge of photography, his humour, and his kindness. I expect many of you who visited the store were helped by him, and I thought some of you might like to know. He will be missed.

B&H Photo-Video
Milton's full name was Milton Spiegel. He was the supervisor for the store darkroom and film departments and a true gentleman of the old school -- a real mensch -- and a bit of a character in the best possible way. Everyone here who was fortunate enough to have worked with him misses him. He was an asset to us all and will be missed.
Milton had one son and several B&H employees met him at Milton's funeral. I have shared this thread with Milton's sales manager and our store manager and they'll share this with Milton's son.
I am personally touched that you posted this here. It was a gracious thing to do. Thank you.
