Mini Book Review: Why Photographs Work. 52 Great Images,
who made them, what makes them special and why.

What works: There are 215 entries, each entry has a main photo,
the author's analysis of the photo, the photographer's perspective,
a background of the person and the technical aspects.

if you are a Medium format or large format users, you'd be pleased
to know that more than 50% of the photos were taken in these
format, the rest being small and digital format.

These are mainly landscape, abstract and still life with a bit of
portraits thrown in.

In the example below, the tree picture was taken with a holga
while the portrait was taken with a hassleblad wit trix and then sepia toned.

I borrowed this book from the local Library.
it is published by Rockynook 2011. Author is George Barr.

Did you like the book?
What did you think of the author's analysis of the pictures?

I saw this book come up in my Amazon account suggestions list about a year or 2 ago.
The title made me laugh (...what makes them special and why) and I never heard of the author so I passed.
