I received my jinfinance Micro 4/3 – M mount adapter today, took 3 days to EMS here to Chongqing from Shanghai, the typical amount of time I might add. Shipping was free.
It arrived in a small cardboard box and many layers of bubble wrap (im going to have fun popping that stuff after im done writing this) and of course the typical small card paper box with the adapter inside wrapped in yet another baggy.

First impression was that the adapter was a lot heavier than I expected but a welcome trait for something that will see a lot of action.

One thing I noticed immediately is what seems to be slightly rough edges on the m mount side, not on the m4/3 side though. These edges don’t seem to be any trouble and running my finger along them I did not feel any bad stuff going on there.

A big surprised for me is this old school looking release on the side of the adapter actually rocks back and forth. I would guess it is attached in a T configuration with one end on a spring and the other end being the lock and the button itself just free floating and can move horizontally side to side about 3-4 mm. No biggy.

As you can see it here it is on my Zeiss 28mm f2.8 ZM lens. I would not call the mounting/dismounting action smooth as butter but it is not rough either. The fit is very tight and secure. I tested it on all the M mount lenses I had here which are the Voigtlander 35mm PII, Leica 50mm f3.5 red scale Elmar on a Voigtlander M mount adapter, Leica 35mm f2 Summicron Version 3, Zeiss 50mm f2 ZM and Zeiss 28mm f2.8 ZM. All lenses mounted just fine on the adapter and were a tight secure fit except my Leica 35mm summicron which always seemed a little easier to mount and dismount on bodies and which no rear cap would stay on. This lens had a very slight movement but definitely not a wobble; I don’t think it would be a real big issue.

Here is the lens mounted on the Leica 50mm f3.5 red scale Elmar. The mounting is just fine nothing seems wrong. The lens can be collapsed with the adapter on but I really don’t think this is a good idea if you are going to have it on the camera because undoubtedly it will destroy the sensor.

In this picture it is worth noting that the inside of the adapter is a matte black finish while the outside is a glossy finish.

For 80 some dollars the adapter may be expensive compared to adapters for other mounts but then again it is a lot cheaper than the Japanese made ones. As I do not have a Panasonic G1 sitting in front of my because my friend took it back and is still on vacation I will have to wait to test it out, or just go buy a G1 of my own. At least I have the adapter though and am ready to go for that moment I pull the trigger.

Am I satisfied? Yes and I cant wait to get it on a G1.

ps. I should also mention that I have another adapter from the same group that makes this one, a focus confirm m42 - Canon EF and that has seem a lot of use with no problems or unusual wear at all.

Nice review! It will be interested to hear how it works on the camera 🙂

I bought a Nikon-Canon EF mount at the xitue lu market that seems well made (although a guy at the time told me to be careful of the focus adapter chip mounted inside the adapter, because they sometimes fall off inside the camera!). They don't have any of the adapters at the xietu lu market?

Unfortunately, you could very well be disappointed when you try it on you G1. It seems mine does not reach infinity focus. Another person on getdpi was able to adjust his by dismantling it and sanding the mount to reduce the thickness.

you would not happen to have a link to that would you?

I only have LTM lenses for my Leicas and Bessa Cameras. I use M mount adapters to us these on M mount cameras.

I'm asking, should I get the M mount and use the adapter or do you think two adapters is asking for trouble. Since I don't have any M mounts only LTM maybe I should just get the LTM adapter and then worry about the M mounts in the future.

Any opinions?

Leo

If you don't have problems with your LTM adapters now they should be fine on a proper m4/3s adapter.

Just get a Rayqual M adapter, it's 'proper.' It's been proven to be the best one. Of the four manufacturers, 3 of them have had issues...only Rayqual hasn't. 😉

Were do you purchase the Rayqual adapter?
How much is it?
Thanks

Well, I was on the Cameraquest wait list since late December , but didn't know I had to prepay so I didn't get in on the first batch. I went ahead today and paid for one, so hopefully I'll be in the next batch...

I have emailed jinfinance to arrange a return/refund, hopefully it will go smoothly...

Mine came in today:

Here's with CV's 15mm Heliar

I'll put more picture when I get off work today.

I did some simple focus testing and it looks like it is a bit off when combines with LTM-M adaptor that I have.

For example, if I focus an object at 50cm, The lens distance focus is at around 60-65cm. This means that the flange is a bit longer. I will try with other lens that I have since the 15mm has very wide DOF.

Mine came in, too. Nice review here. I haven't looked at mine as close, but I'll spy around for rough edges, etc. The 'old style' lens release seems a little fiddly, but it is rugged and it does work. Not a definite 'click' when attaching the lens, but the lens does lock.

I just got my CameraQuest Adapter - thanks Stephen! - and it reaches infinity. Here is a side by side with the Summicron 90mm pre-asph at F2 (not the sharpest lens W/O, BTW). I see a big improvement over the Chinese adapter.

After you mentioned the click I went back and tested that, all my lenses made a distinct "click" when attached and the locking ping drove home.
