Minister II Help !

Minister II Shutterspeed problems.



Hi !


Last week I bought a Minister II, very nice camera, beautiful!

The problem is that the shutter speed only works down to 15, at 8 the shutter wont close and you can hear the timer struggeling.

I opened the front of the lense, but I dont dare to open the lock nut and take of the wavy nut ( I destroyed my Lynx 5000 2 weeks ago atempting that):bang:

so what can I do ? is it worth opening? any good tips ?

If the shutter timer is struggling to operate maybe it needs cleaning.

Could try dropping in a little lighter fluid (ronsonol) through the self timer slot underneath the lens rotate the camera through 360 degrees a couple of times and then operating the shutter (any speed) - a few times at first then trying your lower speeds out. e.g. Set EV ring to 3 (1 sec. f2.8 - f11) . Don't overdo the amount of lighter fluid.....
Is the EV ring easy to turn? It may need a bit of a clean too.

Please do not pour solvents into shutter/lens assemblies! You should not even pour clean shutter assemblies on more valuable cameras.

I'd recommend getting a proper lens wrench to get the thing apart.

I have cleaned slow speed escapement for Lynx 5000 - I'm sure, you have same issue.
Key is to not just flush SSE with lighter fluid, but keep it in for some time, like a day or two. First you can use short baths to remove major amount of crud and final phase will dissolve the rest.

I sprayed some electronic cleaner, first it semd to work but after 10 min its starts to behave erretic.

Mayby it needs som lube ? should i try to spray som silicone lube in to it ?

yes, silicone lube will make you a nice'n'fancy door stopper. Get back with update how your family and friends like it.

Just played whit the camera and suddenly one of the shuttre leavs got stuck and then the other.....

Opend the camera in the lens but cant get past the timing mechanism 🙁


I´m crying!!!!!

It was such a beutifull camera, first I break my Lynx now this.....
