Hi, this is my first post and already asking stupid questions, but here goes:
I saw the light about 3 weeks ago and went on an acquisition spree, well just dipping my toe in the water really. Started with a Yashica GSN, fixed the light seals courtesy of the kit from JonGoodman, then a Chinon 35 (mistake - no RF), then Chinon Bellami (sweet little thing, no RF but very fondle-able), a Chinon 35EE (for a 'cooking' camera) then my latest purchase a Minolta Himatic 7s II.
Now this Hi-matic looks very clean, looked after etc., but it seems to have a wobbly lens - the focus ring is firm enough, but move the speed setting ring or anything further forward and there is about 0.5 mm (about 0.02 inch) rotation play in either direction. You can in fact see (looking into the lens) the aperture change as you do it. I'm hoping this won't have a great deal of effect on actual images if you don't fiddle with the lens while snapping, but its very disconcerting.
Does the lens need dismantling and adjusting/tightening? Can't seem to find any good sites on the 7s II for dismantle/repair - any pointers?
So far I've only taken shots on the Yashica and have been quite stunned by the quality of the images (technical, not artistic). A slight detour with a Mustek 4800 TA Pro II scanner (it produces total rubbish 35mm scans), prevents me from digitising for the moment.
