Minolta 7s vs 7sII - how to tell

The 7s is a substantially bigger camera than the 7SII, almost the size of a Yashica Electro 35... Probably near 6 inches long and 3.5 to 4 inches high.

The 7SII is closer to a Canonet GIII QL... 4.5 inches long and 3.25 inches high.
 
Both are engraved with their respective model numbers on the front. The 7s is a full size rf camera whereas the 7sII is smaller..

Excelent info!! I had not realized they were marked "II"...

This one I have is the original 7S, and appears to be in good condition throuout, save for a cloudy viewfinder.

Is there a guide to cleaning up the viewfinder available?

Been able to find a good hood that fits the 7sII? Vented in particular? Not that I've been losing sleep trying on hoods, but all hoods that I've tried block the viewfinder.
 
There's a Minolta hood made for the 7sii (D49ND) but good luck finding one. It's partially shown here with my Hi Matic...oh and yes it still partially blocks the viewfinder.

Do what I did for the Yashica GX - buy two inexpensive glass filters, knock the glass out and screw them in.

Works pretty good.

Try matt denton's page, he has at least a how to do it on a yashica. I have done it on the 7S and it is pretty straight forward

Remove the top (might be an idea to remove it upside down, the pin in the shutter button for the cable release fell into the camera when I did this. In the end it came out of the bottom of the camera and it took a lot of thinking before I realized it was for the shutter release and not from the body)

Clean all the glass with Windex and Q-tips (most people say do not clean the yellow glass, you may remove the yellow part and it will ruin the diamond. I normally clean it and have not ruined any diamonds yet, clean the other glass first and if you are happy stop)

Put the top back on
