Looking for some help here. I've a very nice Minolta AL-S that works fine but is missing its shutter button. Anyone have one, or know of where I might find one?

Thanks for any help...

You can have this for the cost of postage. The shutter fires but the door hinge is damaged so its just a parts camera. Send me a PM if interested.

I would pay money for that!!!

If you don't take advantage of Jon's offer then ebay has a few minoltinas for cheap. Same button.

Which models use the same button AlexBG? My camera is the AL-S, which is different than the ALS Jon has. I don't know if his has the same button or not. I've dug around and most of what I have are SRT's of various flavors and their buttons are different.

Jon, thanks for the offer but I'm thinking the cost of sending your camera over the ocean to me could be more than the my camera is worth. Plus my concern above about whether its the right part. I'm considering turning one out of some oak and putting a nice stain on it...

Cheapest route would be a minoltina P for spares or repair. Or minolta Al-F or AL. Pretty sure they all have the same button.

Is your a minolta al-s with the large selenium meter on the front?

Yeah, the long skinny meter cell. I don't have a picture of mine at hand but it's this model. This is an S but it and the AL-S are the same.

I dug around and found a AL with a wonky shutter. I pulled out its shutter button but its a smaller diameter than whats needed for the AL-S and doesn't sit correctly in the camera. Digging around some more I cant find a P or anything else like the AL-S. I did though find an old A that seems like it could be made to work with a minimum of effort... :)

I'm thinking that turning one from oak, and maybe recovering the camera with some oak veneer could actually look pretty cool. Something along these lines..

I've always loved the ilott cameras, mine is a minoltina s as well, love it to pieces.

I was going to paint mine all black as the black ones are rare and expensive. One day I'll get the al-e and wood veneer it.
