Minolta CLE shutter repair

I've been getting trouble with CLE getting stuck shutter cocking mechanism lately.
For what it's worth, the problem started after I kept it unused for a couple of months (with batteries in) .

The shutter is being prevented from cocking by the mechanism hidden behind the bottom plate: the little catch lever drops onto the big metal wheel (that's connected to shutter assembly) instead of staying away from it until the shutter is fully cocked.

You can see that at first the lever drops onto the wheel immediately after shutter release, but later does what it's supposed to and stays up until i move the film winding lever.

The spring that cocks this metal catch lever is hidden inside the metal box that is underneath the shutter curtain assembly and there seem to be no way to open it.

Anyone advice on how to fix this problem?
 
Nope, still looking. somebody more knowledgeable than me said it might be a buildup of gunk on the internal magnets responsible for this operation. No idea how to get to them though
 
I had this issue and Dave Easterwood fixed mine for $163 including full CLA, and it now works perfectly.
 
It needs a professional CLA. Mine was done a few years ago by Crystal camera in Asheville, NC. It's a very nice camera, and not a cheap camera, so why butcher it up by doing it yourself?

Yes, now I remember. Did not look at the date of his post. I am not involved in that kerfuffle. However, the question remains..........and maybe someone else can answer. I have a CLE and it works fine now, but at some point could show signs of dysfunction. Not many technicians will work on CLE or have the training and understanding (or parts), so DAVE might be a good resource.

Any good camera technician should be able to do a CLA on your camera. The circuit board/electronics rarely fail and outside of that the camera is simply a mechanical camera. 30 years ago few repair shops specialized in repairing only one model. A properly trained technician should be able to fix anything. Some of the bigger shops just say no because they don't know what's wrong without looking and don't want to upset a customer who pays shipping and inspection fees just to be told that it can't be repaired. Nikon USA is good at this, they won't touch anything that isn't current. But I've used their list of approved repair shops and they always able to fix what I send. I keep mentioning Crystal Camera in Asheville, they have repaired a CLE, an Olympus 35SP, a Nikon F2 and others for me at very reasonable prices. Small shop.
 
Since nobody will be working on these cameras I rather learn to fix them myself. I have 3 bodies and one of them the shutter skips and the second shutter does not reset.
I believe it need a little tension on the torsion. And if I had the repair manual I might be able to fix it myself.

I have been emailing around trying to find somebody to repair my CLE.
Do you guys know anybody still working on those gems?
 
apparently a very common question these days...and several threads address. However, perhaps to save your time I did get a recommendation for Dave's Camera Repair (DAvid Easterwood). Not used him for mine (yet) but others have and at least he will look at it. whereas other technicians would not give it a chance. Send an email or call.
 
I think there is a guy in Japan, noted for his skill with CLE. Don't have name or contact info. POssibly you could contact Bellamy and Japan Camera Hunter.
 
I would second reaching out to JCH. I hope you get that awesome camera fixed.
