minolta dynax 7 ERROR!!!

Oh my, the sweet dynax 7 is showing me the dreaded error sign. It´s related to dof prewiew button, and turnin off and on the camera gives you one shot, and there it comes again. Shoot it once, and it`s again error status. Taking of the batteries don´t help. Has anybody experience of this kind of error sign? A typical bug in this model or something worse?
 
3js - thats the one that you bought from me isn't it? If it was that was my dads camera - it's barely been used for the last 7 or so years and has probably only had up to 20 rolls of film in it ever!

I'll have a dig around the net for you to try and find out whats going on.

Gavin, take it easy, it´s not that camera, but I don´t mind if you find something about it. But this Dynax had also very few rolls run thru it, maybe max 50! Does anybody know how to take the front plate of? I think that it might be as simple as the dof preview button has misalignet somehow, but I just can´t figure out how to open that front plate. Bottom plate and bayonet ring are easy, but I just hope that I don´t have take the top cover of too.
 
Just out of curiosity, what brand of lens were you using at the time. I have read a few places that an older Sigma lens than the camera may have compatibility issues.
 
3js - I can't seem to find much about any errors with that particular camera. I'm glad it's not my dads old one - I hope you find your solution!
 
I have had both some series 7 and some series 9 Minolta srl (dynax/maxxum). I still own a maxxum 9, which is nice although it still leaves me some a wish list.
I liked the 9's much more than the 7's.
Given the current very low price of a Maxxum 9 (I bought new and paid a bunch of money, fool that I am), you might consider upgrading.
Just wanted to share my experience, not to give advices.

Thanks for everybody for your posts. The camera is in a "hospital" right now, I hope it survives as I really like it. I was using a Minolta 24/2.8 lens on the camera when the break down happened, so no unholy marrige there:D If it is too expencive to repair I `m going to buy a new one, these are quite cheap on evilBay right now. The Dynax 9 is an option too.
 
I'll not recomend you the Dynax/Maxxum 9. D 7 is more useful, expecialy its honeycomb exposure display if using Minolta lenses

you are quite right. I completely forgot the last 7 model. The one with the big rear LCD. Possibly the last film camera by Minolta (or Konolta)
It is very sophisticated (I only read some reviews).
Anyway if one likes a solid plain camera (I use my D/M 9 all in manual except when I photog children, in which case I use autofocus) a 9 can stiil be a good choice
 
Dynax/Maxxum 7 is true Minolta baby and the last one and born before Konica Minolta incorporation. As far as I know it was the most sophisticated film camera. I use it and like the easy and smart change in the middle rolls. Also its exposure relative metering is phenomenal and better then digital histograms
 
The Dynax 7 is the best camera I have ever used. Period. Fast, light, brilliant metering, the best AF I have ever seen (significantly better than my Nikon D200), great ergonomics.

When I switched to Nikon (Minolta was too tardy with a digital SLR) I sold off all my glass. The body nobody wanted... I still have it. Bought a simple zoom lens to shoot some slides in the sun.
 
It´s my sad, sad duty to inform that she had past away. Internal injuries in the diagraph closing gearbox area were too heavy to survive. R.I.P
