minolta hi-matic 11 - hazy (almost invisible) rangefinder spot

Hello,
as in the subject. i've got the camera, with rather hazy, hardly visible rangefinder spot. has anybody here ever replaced it/cleaned it? how do you do that? any suggestions welcome, thanks.

I have just tried the method you've suggested. it seemed a bit crude 😉... anyway, thanks, that did do the job partly. i wanted to know if there are some of you guys who have actually REPLACED part of the rangefinder mechanism...
