I've been looking for a hm9 for a while, but settled fr a 7s as a stepping stone for now. I expected it to have aperture priority exposure but actually it doesn't. When I set the shutter speed ring to A and choose any aperture the shutter speed defaults to one speed and doesn't change.
I've read conflicting information on whether the hm9 has aperture priority or not, so can we achieve a clear answer?

No aperture priority on hi-matic 9, you must set both shutter speed dial and aperture dial to A to ge automatic mode.
Unlike 7s, the meter works on manual mode

Are there different variations of the 7s? The meter works on my 7s in manual mode and shutter priority appears to work too (aperture changes according to what I'm pointing at) strangely I've read the 7s is not supposed to have even shutter priority.
Thanks for the reply, I am disappointed as I thought the 9 was the perfect fixed lens RF for me but no aperture priority is a deal breaker. I would like metered manual if it was a needle system or similar rather than reading in ev.
