As I have just sold all my Maxxum equipment I was getting ready to photograph the above flash and put it on ebay, when I wondered if it still worked.
Sure enough, works fine. As I was sitting there looking at it I wondered if it would work on my Yashica GSN. It's got five tiny pins sticking out of the contact area.
It fit on nice and snug. Three of the pins seem to line up with the round contact area on the Yashica's hot shoe. I think I set the shutter speed at 100 and turned the front lens ring to flash. Cocked shutter and pressed shutter release button. Whamo, flash went off. Tried it a couple more times and it seems to work just fine. (Later I read a part in the Yashica manual that seems to sugges it defaults to 1/30 second when you rotate the lens ring to "flash.")
My question is this: Should I try it on the Bessa R? Is there any way it could hurt the camera? The 2800AF contains 4 AA batteries. It's a perfectly good flash unit - even has a diffuser slip-on lens - so if it works on the Bessa, why sell it?
I assume the Bessa R is synched at 125th of a second...
Any input will be appreciated.
