Hi there, this is my first time scanning MF with the MMP.

I follow this steps, 1) Place the mask in the glass holder, 2) put the negative in the glass holder 3) insert in the scanner.

Then in VueScan I have marked this options:

And this is what I got:

What's could be the problem?

Hi Bruno...
I've come across similar problems with a Minolta Scan Multi II scanner in Vuescan and various RIP's and also some drum scanner software. The cause of it was traced to using Gretag Macbeth generated monitor profiles. Try changing your monitor profile and see if that helps. Does the same thing happen using the supplied Minolta software?

I know it sounds very unlikely but yes, it can and does.
Black previews and scans, half black previews and scans, third black previews and scans, either side of the negative and sometimes heavy black striping. My own ScanMulti II appeared to have half the CCD dead until I changed the profile.

As far as I'm aware the Multi-pro will not scan a medium format neg in 4200dpi Mode. Mine won't. The max. I can go to for scanning a 120 film is 3200dpi. I think 4200dpi is for 35mm only. I tried it with both Vue Scan and Minolta's own software.

Also, I notice you seem to have you got your preview resolution set to 2400dpi and your scan resolution set to 600dpi.

I hope this helps. :)

Bob.

Thanks Bob, but in the Mode selector show this options:

If I chose what You suggest the 3200dpi mode and 600dpi for scanning and 2400 for preview, this is what happens:

it's driving me crazy...

Hmm, strange.

I doubt it is making any difference, but I notice you do still have your preview resolution set at 2400dpi and your actually scanning resolution set to only 600dpi. I think these values should be the other way around.

Maybe disable 'Batch Scan' too.

You could also try restarting the scanner and Vuescan in case it helps the new settings to take effect.
I'll have a look at the settings I use on mine when I return home this evening.

Bob.

If you want to PM me your email address Bruno I could try sending you one of my presets to load this evening. There's a chance it may re-set whatever is giving you the problem.

Nothing just the same, is a headache!

Even with the Bob presets loaded, the scanner must be faulty, but I have no problem scanning 35mm.

Yes I've joined already I will try, thanks Bob.

By the way when I purchased the scanner to ivanuskokovic from this forum, I couldn't try the MF until a couple of days ago, He never noticed me about this problem, so was not very honest by himself. I'm totally disappointed.

I know you are dubious Bruno but it appears to me to be a software problem.
Try using the Minolta software to scan a sample.
