A) Konica-Minolta got out of this business more than a couple years ago.
B) Prices have spiked on the few remaining units anyone can scrounge and sell on eBay.
C) I don't know, maybe they DO have them at this price out of some warehouse somewhere.

So Caveat Emptor, I'd say. If it sounds too good to be true...

I know that Konica Minolta stopped making scanners several years ago. I was just curious. I am happy with my Nikon Coolscan. I do agree with you that it sounds too good to be true, especially after checking resellerratings.com. Thanks for the info.
