Minolta Uniomat II Light meter

I've jsut acquired a Minolta Uniomat II but unfortunately, the seller on ebay did not say its light meter is dead! Is there any possibility of fixing it? Please give me some advice as to how can I use the camera without the meter, and/or how should I go about fixing it. Thanks for your advice.

This is an uncommon model. Why don't you tell us a bit about it. Does it offer manual speeds? And is it a selenium meter? Or one that requires a meter.

The Uniomat is a very unique camera, as it is a programmed exposure camera though it is not "Automatic". The combination of the apparature and the shutter speed is dicided according to the LV(light value) by the camera itself, but YOU have to tell the camera what LV should be used. This is normally done by reading the light meter of the camera. So, if you are good at reading light, or if you have a handheld light meter, it is not necessary to fix the internal meter for taking pictures with it.

Thanks for your input. The camera is unique in that it combine aperture and shutter speed into one LV, which is not very obvious. I understand now that I can take picture without the light meter, but it would be more efficient if the meter is fixed.
