thanks for the fast reply. If A-mode is working this is perfect for me as i shoot 95% of the time in aperture priority.

Yes they do. MC lenses work good on the X700. It won't use all the automation the X700 offers, but A and manual exposure work great.

If you plan on amassing a lens collection for your new X-700, Carter, then you'll probably add more bodies along the way, as they tend to come attached. That way, you'll have plenty of spares if one dies on you.
