My new/old Minolta XK arrived today.

The seller stated the meter scale was not visible in the viewfinder so I pulled the meter off and replaced it with an old AE meter I have had for years. With new batteries I turned it on but the needle went above 2000th and would not move till I turned off the switch. I then swapped the meter top covers out since the issue was with the light reflecting mirror coming loose. With the meter that came with this camera I could now see the scale and the meter is working fine.

The one I have had worked fine when last used but now won't so I guess it will be used for parts unless anybody has any idea what could be the problem and if it can be fixed...

Overall this is a very nice camera with one of the brightest viewfinders I have ever used even with slow lens and the shutter is very quiet and sounds to be reasonably accurate..

This is one of those special classic cameras that everyone should at least get a chance to shoot with.

I've got it loaded with a roll of Fuji Acros 100. Hope to have it finished in time to soup it this weekend..

So far the couple of shots I have taken should be keepers.

Nice looking XK, Colyn. I like the cameras character with the brassing, it obviously is not a display case queen and can tell stories. I hope you will post some of the images.

Congratulations!

Tom

That's a beautiful camera, Colyn. I've been thinking about getting one to go with my X-700 and X-570, but it will have to wait.

Thanks

I prefer cameras that are used and show it.

I will be posting photos soon. I plan to soup and scan my first roll from it this weekend..

Here's Mine.

Here's Mine.

Nice XK Colyn. Also good that you had an extra prism to use for the required part.

I was out shooting with mine last evening, with the 400mm f5.6 APO. It does have a bright viewfinder.

Using the All-Matte "G" Focusing screen with this lens.

Thanks

Since the meter was working fine when I last used it several years ago but is defective now it just goes to show you should use caution when buying eBay items described as "working when last used"...

I'm going to have to give my Rokkor 400mm a spin on the XK...

I always liked the XK. This camera just looks cool.

Jim B.

I had one several years ago but it went the way of a trade and I kicked myself for getting rid of it. To me it looks so much classier than the Nikon F or F2 and the Rokkor-X lens are second to none..

People look when they see it........

I love my XKs, though I admit that the one I use the most is the one I'm thinking about getting rid of, so don't think me a hypocrite if you read I sold it. I have a reserve.

The other was given to me by a friend, around 1985. His mother inlaw gave it to him and his wife new. On a trip to Hawaii, customs dropped it and dented the body by the advance lever. About every third shot, it hangs up and you have to wiggle it a little. They were reimbursed full price. My friend decided to buy a better camera, a Nikon EM. It was better because it said Nikon on it. When I got it, the XK had been sitting in a closet for a couple of years and, I think if I remember correctly, the F-stops wouldn't adjust. There is a cable that controls it and it had become stuck in that one spot. It took all of ten minutes to repair it.

That's a great shot of a good looking camera. I think I should photograph mine, just in case.

I photograph all of my cameras for insurance/security reasons...and some just look good like this camera...

Rare 250 Exposure Back w/Grip for XK-Mot.

Rare 250 Exposure Back w/Grip for XK-Mot.

I have two SR-M cameras, and am looking for 250 Backs and accessories for them. Hard to find.

If I had an XK-Mot (don't have one) I would buy this 250 Exposure Back for it. The price is right, considering it is complete and has the Grip (goes underneath the back) and he says it works.

Not affiliated with the seller. If I had an XK-Mot, I'd be all over this:

Yes, you would have a very impressive rig with that combo & as you well know, a very rare kit indeed. :)
