Well my gas regarding small compact 35mm scale focus\rangefinder cameras is still not cured, I have just obtained a Minox 35 Touring, this should fit in nicely, as I already have a Xa, Xa2, Xa4, Rollei 35, 35T and Rollei 35S. According to the seller the Minox is working well and was used as recently as last week, I will wait and see I have been disapointed by unreliable kinox in the past. I have had a gt and gl in the past so Im looking forward to receiving my 35 Touring

When you switch from a Rollei 35 to a Minox you will always check your pocket, because it feels as if you left your camera at home;-)

I know what you mean, the rollei has some weight to it, I feel the main reason for so many having dings on the corner is because they hurtle out of peoples shirt pockets when they move or bend over

I also, own a chino Bellami and that feels like air comapered to the weught of the Rollei, the Rollei obviously has the best build quality

A friend recently gave me a Minox GT and flash and I really love it. I'm not so sure about the build quality of the Rollei though (I owned one once). It may be metal and have some heft to it, but they dent so easily! It's rare to see one that isn't dented, so one wonders whether "build quality" is the right term here. My Minox, made from what seems to be a very high quality and durable plastic material, is unmarked. it also functions flawlessly. The Minox is a brilliant design in many ways and delightful to use. The batteries are a bit of a challenge, but it's all part of the fun I guess...TW

We have to differentiate between the body and the inner mechanics.
The dents are part of the Rollei 35 myth; I own three 35 and only one is dented. I dropped my 35 (T) twice, no problems; the Minox 35PL had to be serviced after one drop half the height (and while resting in a coat pocket). I like the Minox 35 as much as the Rollei though.
The Chinon Bellami is a great camera too; I love it for the ingenious barndoor front!

maybe build quality was the wrong turn of phrase, funny enough I have 4 rollei and only one of them is ding free

I managed to pick up my Bellami boxed with instructions for £10, Im now on the look out for a Ricoh ff1 and a Cosina CX, but they still seem to fetch high prices and I keep getting out bid by Lomographers

Good to hear you have a Touring on the way. It's a great machine. I never had one, but I had an MB and an ML. All this talk of tiny cameras means my PL wants to come out and play.
I really want to get another ML, but the PL was cheap, and I know it's a great camera, as my first Minox was a PL.

Thanks, from what I can gather the Minox Touring is more akin to the MB than to the ML. Which did you prefer to useGood to hear you have a Touring on the way. It's a great machine. I never had one, but I had an MB and an ML. All this talk of tiny cameras means my PL wants to come out and play.

To be perfectly honest, it was the ML. But that's probably just because of the Program setting. Don't think there are any other differences, except maybe AE lock

I just looked the Minox Touring up… The design is so nice! Very Dieter Rams!
Have fun with the camera. I am going to keep my eyes peeled for my own.

With daylight slowly returning to Britain after a long absence, I've been out with my 35PL. The programme-only exposure is frustrating, but only the same as with my Olympus Trip or my 35ECR, so maybe i can live with that. Ironically, I'm using my XZ-1 as a digital carry, which is easier to use in Aperture priority than my digital Pen, which tends to live in P mode.
Nonetheless, the years of Minoxing come flooding back, and it feels very natural in my hands and to my eye, with that 35mm view a very natural angle for me. I hope I've got some useful shots from wandering around near work.
Still looking forward to seeing the fruits of your efforts, Mike.
