Well it's finally happened, the shutter of my Minox 35EL has died . The meter still works but the battery test isn't functioning and the shutter won't fire. Fresh batteries don't help. A local camera technician has said that it is beyond repair. I'm wondering if this is the end or is there someone out there who may be able to resurrect it.

Bump. I have the same problem on my GL, although in my case the battery test still works.
I managed to get at the shutter magnets from behind but not sure what to do next. I read they can suffer from dust and/or sticky oil.

I had one of my Minox 35ML cameras repaired by DAG.
Don did the work quickly and at reasonable cost.

Might make (economical) sense for a 35ML but the EL or GL really aren't worth what the repair would cost. Any attempted home fixes, successful or not? It's a paperweight right now so nothing to lose.

IIRC DAG repaired it for $30.
