Have not watched the videos, but, if I'm ever motivated to do microsurgery (an ambitious undertaking!) on a Minox, I'll remember this post.

How do you suppose the shutter blades got crushed?

i think they get dirty or slightly bent with use and it snowballs. They run in a very close tolerance housing and slide past each other. When the camera is closed these micro thin blades are pushed from one end through the housing. So if something doesn't run perfectly smooth it's like pushing a piece of aluminum foil into a keyhole and they crunch, then trying to open the camera pulls them the other way, then closed again for who knows how many cycles before the user decides something is wrong.

Last night I did a teardown on a Minox model B I just got on Ebay and I decided to do a video so people can see what getting into one is like firsthand. Camera turned out to have crushed shutter blades. 4 parts, 1 hour total

I found this information extremely useful. Thank you very much.

(PS: I have two BL's awaiting service by Don Goldberg because I've always been afraid to attempt the work myself.)

I had that happen to one of my Minox Bs a long time ago. DAG took care of it for me.

Thanks for the videos! :)
