So this is a total bust! Put a new battery in my EC, lights work, meter warning works, but shutter stays open. Anything to do, or is it just DOA? Thoughts? 🙁

Sorry to hear it. That's a fairly common occurrence on Minox EC cameras that have sat for a long time without use. Mine did that years ago, probably when I bought it, and I had DAG take care of it; the service wasn't expensive at that time, about $80 I think. I have no idea what it would cost to repair now.

I found a nice looking replacement on ebay for $35. Fingers crossed that it works!

So the replacement camera also has a dead shutter. I guess it's a common failure. Oh well, I have nice working examples of the A, B & C, so I guess I enjoyed the EC in the past and its time has passed for me. 🙁

Ach, that's too bad. Yeah, really, all I use these days when I take out Minox is the C.
You've reminded me: I still have my brand-new, never used, Minox EC "Minox Historical Society Special Edition #100 of 100". I should take it out and see if it works...!!

The cameras were a lot of fun, but flaky electronics, not so much. I did put that new battery in my C. 🙂
