10-2 Hi,I read all sorts of good things about the Jupiter lens family, how about the Mir?Theres a 37mm on the bay now that interests me,but ,I'd like some opinions.Thats a easy thing around here, there's a time issue,15 hrs so hurry! Thanks in advance, Robin

mir is for old zenit slr cameras, so it wont work on your rangefinder. if you have zenit with 39mm mount than buy it - i heard that it is a great lens.

Yes, it's for an m39 Zenit. There's a range of lenses which look like they would fit the Leica standard so be aware when buying. All the bigger lenses (other than the Zenit I50) seem to have an extra ring to open the preset aperture and shut down before shooting. You will see J11 & J9 in this range. Incidentally in the recent article in AP on the Zenit range, wasn't the MIR-1 described as not very good?

More than likely, but they also said that the I-22 was atrocious, which is dribbling rubbish!

As our Soviet chums never failed to point out, the Mir-1 won the grand Prix de Bruxelles in 1958, and those old Waloons know a good lens when they see one! :)

Cheers, Ian

Mir-1V (in cyrillic it looks like MNP-1B) is a m42 lens. It will work on not-so-old Zenits (E, ET, TTL, 11) or old Spotmatic (or new Bessaflex).
