Years ago I bought a pristine Miranda sensomat RE camera kit with prism and waist level finder, wide, normal, and television lenses for $90 at a garage sale. Turns out that the camera needs a CLA - the shutter curtains don't lock in the tensioned position, they creep back slightly so that the edge between the first and second curtain is visible in the film gate and the shutter won't release. Repair will cost between $100 and 150.

Miranda is a pretty obscure brand so I don't know what the market demand is and if I could best get my money back from it as parts or as a working kit. It is beautiful and I'd use it very occaisionaly just for pleasure if it worked, but don't know whether to sink more money into repair for a kit I don't need and may have difficulty selling. Advice, especially from Miranda experienced people is appreciated.

They are not worth much. I had a Miranda D with the same problem and the fix was easy enough once I figured out why it was happening.

The little tab that the mirror hits which releases the shutter was stuck. A little wiggling and lube free'd it up and it fires normally (it requires some disassembly to gain access to the pivot point).

Before, the shutter would cock when the advance lever was held, but would "fall back" slightly when the lever was released.

Now it cocks and fires normally.

I no longer have my sensomat to comare it to the D, but they're probably pretty similiar.
