I keep a camera with me at all times lately, but sometimes you just miss.

Yesterday evening on my way home from work I witnessed some kind of police action.
10 to 15 police cars surrounding a mini van, K-9 units jumping around, police behind their cars, guns drawn and me with only 1 frame left in the zorki, no spare film. :bang:

Vowed right then and there to never be out of film again.

Being out of film, and not having a chance to stock up, I put my digital in my briefcase. As I sat down at work my wife called, A flock of Blue Heron's just landed in our back yard, where's the digital? :bang:

blue herons are large birds.. sort of like whooping cranes

and here's my similar experience.. last weekend I was in Chicago.. had just left a restaurant and was walking down the street.. I used up my roll of film outside the restaurant and planned to reload as soon as I got to my car, which was about 5 blocks away.. as I'm walking along, some random guy comes walking the other direction carrying a large pane of glass.. it seemed so odd, plus I imagined a nice street shot with the glass in his hands reflecting other images.. it could have been very unique.. alas, the film was still 3 blocks away

moral of the story.. carry a camera AND a roll of film

Next time you'll be cursing exhausted batteries.. 😉

the best shots i've ever seen are ones i've missed, and i never seem to see the greatest shots when i have my camera with me. the cosmos has a sense of humor like mine: funny except when it's happening to you...
