Mist and grain go well together

They're lovely shots.
I'm in the middle of considering a move back to film, and these pics are a perfect example of why I'm swaying that way. I took some digi pics in a misty Cornish harbour recently - they're on my smugmug site and they're sort of nice, not great shots or anything, but if I'd shot them with film i think they'd have been better. Not better composition obviously - it's hard to put your finger on why film is still so great to look at. It's the same kind of thing as CD v vinyl. There's a quality - a character that's lost in the desire for HD resolution.
 
I read that because of the specular effect of fog that you will get over exposure if you simply use a reflective meter. This was from Luminous Landscape, but maybe I'm wrong because I went to the site and couldn't find it. But this has happened to me, many times. You know on board meter and you just do the reading given.

On this one I didn't adjust my meter reading as the were plenty of dark trees filling the frame:
