While searching for adapters and such for my newly acquired XE1 I noticed there is a Chinese company using the name Mitakon (known locally as Zhong Yi) producing some speed booster like adapters for Nex and Fuji X mounts under the name Lens Turbo.

Of more interest however is this 35mm F 0.95 lens they make for Fuji X mount at a price of around 600 dollars.

Anyone here have one of these things or have any experience with this lens?

I use the mitakon speed booster on NEX with good results. Slight barrel distortion (easily fixed in LR) and blue dot flare in extreme conditions but normally, I find no fault with it.

For the lens you are referring to, I saw some image samples when it was first released taken on NEX and looked pretty good. But since those were from early samples by the manufacturer I'm not sure how good it really is. If it is as good as the sample images, I think it may be the fastest and cheapest 35mm on fuji/nex system.

Do you have any information whether Mitakon are directly linked to Zhong Yi? From what I've seen it seemed to be just one of the many sellers relabelling Zhong Yi parts and lenses.

Going by the pace at which Zhong Yi FL reducers were available everywhere and in all mounts, they seem to be able to produce and deliver quite considerable numbers in short time, so they are obviously a major Chinese OEM.

That 35mm probably evolved from a CCTV design (earlier on the same distributors offered quite a few f/1 and faster lenses that did barely cover MFT), so don't expect Noctilux like qualities from it.

Honestly at that price you might as well get the fujinon 35mm. its only about a stop or so slower but optically its as good as 50mm equivs get...

I cannot say 100% for sure but here in China when you search for Mitakon on Taobao (Chinese ebay) it shows up the name 中一光学 (Zhong Yi Guang Xue) in almost every title along with the Mitakon name.

Yes that is a valid argument. If given the choice I think that is what I would do as well. Still there are not many 0.95 lenses around for that cheap either, but yeah I think the Fuji 35 would probably chew the Mitakon up.
