Has anyone taken out the roller on the 'cassette' side of their Contax II or III as per the suggestion in Peter Hennings' Zeiss Historica article? He points out that the relatively proud lip of modern cassettes is pinched between roller and camera back, as the witness marks on most surviving IIs and IIIs reveal. Certainly, mine have these marks, but I have experienced no problem with film transport or fitting the back once the camera is loaded...

My recently purchased Contax III definitely has some marks where a current film cartridge might have made them, but my test roll of Tri-X ran through and rewound without a hitch. I wouldn't worry about it fi I were you.

Like this... See line scratched into this Contax II back.
