for me, I would consider works taken from 2000 and later to be modern at this point

Alex Webb & David Alan Harvey, probably. Like Allen, I also like Matt Stuart's work.

Who can say what will be remembered in x years though!

Good point from Ned regarding the legacy of files vs prints, though once a photographer's work is disseminated widely online, then there may be a certain timelessness to that (given breadth of backups of their work).
