hi,
I use M7 with VC Nokton 40/1.4
At the current setting the camera bring up 50mm frame line.
How can I modify the camera to bring 35mm frame line?

Thanks.

You have to file the cam at the back of the lens.
this cam acts on a small lever inside and to the side of the lens mount to activate the different framelines.

for 35mm FL, you do not want anything pressing on this lever, thats what the filing of the cam on the lens does.

Do a search to modify the lens, much easier and less expensive. You can do it yourself or give it to any reasonably smart repair shop. It takes seconds with a metal file. I paid for it (about $35 USD) as I had no time.

Do a search through the archives for 40mm cv lens modification for a description.

I can't give you a direct answer, but my guess would be that the lens, not the camera, is what needs to be modified. Given that each lens brings up its proper framelines, using an 'oddball' focal length is bound to cause a problem. Anyone else want to hazard a guess?

When I bought my M4-2, new and years ago, the M4-P was already out, but the main difference was that the "P" had framelines for 28mm and 70mm lenses. I stayed with the "2" because I already had a stable full of SLRS and didn't see the need for more than 35, 50, and 90 on the RF. No reason to regret my decision at the time.

The cam on the OP's lens has to be modified by filing.

The Leica M camera has only three postions for different framelines as can be verified by the preview lever under the viewfinder. Although two framelines can show up at each position like the 28mm and 90mm framelines on my M4-P for example, but only the 90mm frameline is there on my M4-2.

You don't modify the frame lines

You don't modify the frame lines

You need to remove some metal from the lens. Although this is a Summicron, the Nokton is about the same. Remove in small increments until you get it to bring up the 35 framelines.
You can follow the instructions here;

I have done a bunch of Crons, and a couple of Noktons. Never a problem.
