sold most my EOS gear - keept he 300 L - extenders and the 100 macro and one house - the rest is gone and I have not missed it once - were as i would not part with my Leica M6!
So take the trip, ditch the EOS an get a good RF really fast

Take the trip and buy an Olympus Stylus Epic, which can be found used for $50. These teeny cameras have amazing 35/2.8 prime lenses that are stunningly sharp. I travelled around Turkey with one a few years ago, leaving my Canon F-1 kit behind (pre-rangefinder days), and I felt amazingly liberated.

Every photo in my Turkey gallery on Flickr was shot on a Stylus Epic using Provia 100.

Then buy the Bessa down the road.

I DO have the Olympus Stylus Epic and that will come with me anyway since it is so small, but I hate the 35 focal length. The fun thing is that I have shot my best pictures with that little camera.

Another option is the Olympus IS-500 SLR. It is much smaller than the Canon, it has an excellent 28-120 lens alas it is dark (4.5-6.3 methinks). I will have to use ISO 400 slide which is not the ideal for scanning.

Anyway selling film gear here in Greece is next to impossible because of the digital frenzy. I am unloading my 8 month EOS 30, Sigma 28-70 f2,8 and Canon 75-300 f4-5,6 for 500 euros and nobody wants it.

Trip. I have a similar choice: Fotoman 6x17 camera (gorgeous!) or trip to Eastern Europe (unless the money runs out beforehand).

Why do I own cameras? To make pictures. Why buy a camera if it deprives me of the chance to make pictures?

Roger, I sense that you are running into the situation where cameras you find interesting are more and more expensive. This is what happens I think when want exceeds sufficiency. Or something like that... 😀

If you buy another camera you can only shoot what is already available. If you take the trip you will have lots of new material to shoot with your existing cameras and gained new experiences. No contest I'd take the trip and get the next camera at a later date as prices are still falling.
