Monochrom: can't read or access sd card

My experience has been different; I use a single 8Gb Sandisk Extreme Class 10 in my M9 without any problem. As it happens I've never shot many files with this camera before offloading to the computer and reformatting the card (in the camera, and I also reset the file numbering). Don't know if using less than 2GB of the capacity is a factor in my success with it, but a lot has been written in various forums on the subject, with plenty of speculation.

I have used SanDisk 8GB and now 16GB Extreme cards without a problem with my M9.

Ok. I'm wanting to buy an MM. This banding issue has me spooked about the purchase. I asked these questions on a very popular Leica forum but did not get a response.
Did your MM start banding out of he box or did it happen over time?
Do you think it was a batch of MMs or is it all of them?

If it happened out of the box then I will test the one I want to purchase before I hand over the $$$$$$$$.

I think you have been spooked by Internet hyperbole. Yes, any Monochrom (any digital camera in fact) can exhibit banding when pushed. If you use it within reasonable limits it will be a rare occurrence if ever. That is why you got no response....
There are some SD cards out there that may give banding with rapid shooting btw. Just take another card in that case.

Jaap are you saying all those people over at the other forum and Alice here are just imagining the issues they are are having? Or they are over blown and exaggerated?
If that is the case and all the card and banding issues are really just nothing why haven't you said so on the other forum in the Mono Banding thread? You are a member there. It would certainly save a lot of worry from people contemplating purchasing the Mono. Myself included.

I have approx. 5000 shots captured with my MM and I have no banding issues whatsoever. But I also have decent high ISO (that's 1600 for me) pictures with my M9, maybe it's just me.
A little hint: proper exposure is also something worth to consider in the digital age😉.

Just an update: Used Lexar cards with no problems so far. Too early to say because I used Sandisk in the past few months and just encountered them twice. Thanks All!

I have had no problems either. 2 sandisc extreme 32 GBs and rotate them but no problems here. Agree proper exposure is key.... 6K +..

Seems like these Mono troubles are sporadic. I make my living with my cameras. I have to have whatever I purchase working or it's useless to me. I'm off to have a look at one sometime in the next week. I will try to test the one I purchase to make sure it is free of the troubles before I hand over the $$$$.

For mine and a number of others, if I shoot at iso 320 while the card is being written (in the buffer), I do get bandings. For example if I shoot 3 shots in a row, each 2 seconds after another, the first shot will be clean, and the remaining 2 shots will have banding.

But for other iso (400 and above) , there is no such problem.

Best card for digital Leica is Sandisk Ultra II, never problem.
