Hey all!
Once again I need some tips on places and things to do in monterey. I'm heading out there this weekend and was hoping to get some ideas as to where are some good places, etc to go.
I already have Pebble Beach written down as well as Camrea West. (hehe)
Any ideas?
Thanks so much,
Jonathan

If you have transportation, take a drive south to Big Sur. You'll find many scenic vistas along the way. The drive through Pebble Beach is not worth the price of admission, if you ask me, but do spend a little bit of time in Carmel. Have lunch or a beverage at Eastwood's place, the Hogsbreath Saloon. Few years back there was an intersting little photo shop there. Sold only Leica.

Point Lobos, no question. I have a small but dear to my heart set on flickr just of that place...
and the drive in Big Sur - which is an undefined, HUGE region that is uniformly gorgeous - is stunning. If you can make it to Julia Pfieffer Burns State Park around sunset, McWay falls is wonderful.

The Monterey Bay Aquarium is great and you can take the road from there to Pacific Grove and follow it around the Shoreline. Great for pics and a picnic lunch at one of many places to pull over. As good as the 17 mile drive without the admission charge.
Say Hello to Sean at Camera West. Pretty fair prices all things considered. Show you are not from California and you should not have to pay tax if you buy something. It's hard to resist when you are in his shop.

...as if Monterey itself isn't enough!! It's one of my most favorite places. I think you're coming at the right time. It should be beautiful there this weekend--maybe a little crowded, but beautiful.

I can add a suggestion for an afternoon tea-time (not as expensive as I thought it would be) at the Ritz Carlton at Half-Moon Bay, the shore vista is spectacular and the hotel itself is of course very elegant.

If you like Star Trek, they filmed part of movie 4 at the aquarium. You can have your picture taken in the exact spots Spock and Kirk stood at..
