I am going to be in Montreal for Christmas this year with my kids, 9 and 4. Any RFF recommendations for kid-friendly activities?
RF content:
I will have an assortment of Leicas, a C/V 15, 35 Summicron and 50/1 with me, just to keep the post on topic.

Actually: rangefinders have nothing to do with my request for information.
If I wasn't clear, let me try again for the easily befuddled:
To the well-traveled and experienced world wide members of rangefinder forum:
"What public activities (including, by way of example but not limitation, museums, playgrounds, walking tours, or restaurants) would you recommend in the Canadian city of Montreal suitable for children ages 9 through 4 and their parents (irrespective of whether the parents intend to use one or more cameras, lenses or recording devices of any kind)?"
Sheesh. (and thanks emraphoto: those suggestions are pure gold)

farfelu toy store on monte royal east (up in plateau and not far from metro)
i think the butterfly place is actually called the "insectarium"
imax and science center (just west of the vieux port towards st henri)
bell ampitheatre (indoor skating with rentals)
the museum of history? is pretty cool. down in vieux port and you actually go down under part of the city to see the old settlement.

there is a science center down in the old port as well. on one of the piers

the sledding up on mont royal is a great experience as they have lanes and what not built. there is a cafe up there as well to have a hot chocolate and warm up.
i was going to recommend a day trip down to stowe but alas it appears you might be coming up from that neck of the woods already (LOVE VERMONT!)
you must make a trip to Santropol for their crazy sandwiches!
a stroll through chinatown
jean talon market
a bag of bagels and cream cheese from st viateur (bagels will never be the same)
of course a grape soda and giant pickle at schwarz's
have fun!

one more thing... you MUST go to cafe art java, 837 mont-royal east, and have
"le' birdie". it is breakfast of the highest order! it is also just down the street from farfelu (one of the coolest toy stores i have seen).

The Mont Royal is a must...
On the plateau on the montroyal street, you'll have to try "Petits Gateaux". It's a cupcake shop ; your kids will go berserk
. It's really near the Metro, before the St-Hubert street.
There is also Point G, a macaron (small and soft cookies) and waffle shop.
Insectarium is really great; Biodome too.
The toys shop on Montroyal is near the Garnier Street ( or rue...)
