More Arista in Rodinal

Arista EDU Ultra 100 is a very good film. Make sure you shoot it at 50 ISO though. I was getting terrible results at 100, and 50 solved that.

Arista EDU 100 is some rebadged Fomapan 100 and there is no concern at exposing it at 100 ISO.

In order to develop it in Rodinal, you may want to expose it at 80 ISO (1+50, 11' at 20C).

What's the original name of Arista EDU Ultra 100 ? Is it Fomapan 100 too ? I have no idea (never bought any film off Freestyle).

In all those discussions about film and processing, as far are some data are missing, the discussion is worthless. Any discussion mentioning this or that processing method must contain :

- film name and exposure settings
- developer name
- dilution
- temperature
- development time.

Not the case here so we don't know for sure what we all are talking about - too bad.

The agitation method is facultative - there aren't many ways to agitate and this doesn't change much things if any.

I purchased Arista Liquid Developer and tried it with AristaEDUultra 100 (at 50).

That is a gorgeous scene. I love the exposure you have chosen. So very lovely like a bright fairy tale world.

The Arista liquid is the Freestyle "generic" version of Tmax Developer right? (or maybe I remember incorrectly??)

I don't know, but Freestyle told me that Fomapan 100 is the same as Arista EDU ultra 100.

I've used this... it's just like TmaxDev (not RS ).

That is interesting, pretty subtly disguised name. Still, Freestyle has been a great source of alternative and name brand products photo products. Their staff is always helpful (and knowledgeable when I call). I wish them well.

Yes fully agree. Freestyle is a true asset and friend to all photographers.
The few coins I save buying their rebranded or "generic" products is greatly appreciated.
The quality has never suffered in my experience so far.

I really like the EDU films. You guys sure are getting good results thus far. Rodinal, I don't get too good results with. The best developer I have used for EDU 100 is Ilford Perceptol. Hardly any grain. I will have to use some of you guys advice & shoot some at IE50. Thanks for the tip.

I'm not going to give up my TriX, or Tmaxs for Aristas, but it sure feels good and almost liberating to go out and not really care that every shot is perfect. Arista films especially 120 Arista EDU ultra 100 because of the price releases me from a guilt hangover.

For instance, I would have never tried this shot with my others films. This is a Pentax 6x7 with a 200mm lens, a IR filter, f4, Arista EDU ultra 100 at 50, exposed for 1/2 hour. I was surprised as it was full sun that there was an IR effect.

Hey, John, I got my Arista liquid dev in and souped this Acros 4X5 (EI64) in it at 1+9 for 5:50 @ 24C.

Right now, the only drawback is 1+9. Not very economical, even if the stuff ain't that expensive from the get-go. Have you used the 1+19 mixture? Think I'll try that next.

Arista Premium 400, Mix of Xtol (1:4) and Rodinal 1:100. Instead of water I used 1200 ml of Rodinal I:100 and added the Xtol 1:4. Time was 12 min.
Nikon SP, Nikkor 35mm f2.5
