Check out ebay item no. 180166532281 What am I missing here? Looks like two guys dueling it out in their bids (sorry, bad pun), to overpay for an M3. Or am I missing something here? Is there something special about this one that I'm not recognizing? Or perhaps this is simply yet another example of why it's better to transact business here on rff.

Yeah, you're probably right, Roland. Classic shill bidding behaviour, huh?

Another body? No, I've got more than I can use as it is. Been thinking it's time to pare down a bit. Course, that doesn't stop me from taking a break and surfing to see what's out there...

Second thread on this one auction. Why are you looking at M3s? I thought you had one already! ;)

Except for low investment purchases from a few trusted FSU sellers, I've moved away from photo gear buying on the B@y. Tho' I've been lucky, there is no comparison to the satisfaction in Buying and Selling, right here in RFF Classifieds.

Shill bidding, hmm?... I've often wondered what you call it. Sometimes I've bid on an item, and in a split second, I'm outbid?!?
Caveat emptor!

No, I don't think it's shill bidding. The seller has 454 transactions with 100% feedback. S/he would not risk that kind of hard-won reputation. Looks more like two newbies who lack the experience to have proper bidding discipline and got carried away.

...or probably a couple of newbies that just read the New Yorker article. :)
