More new film! Bergger Pancro 400

Just looking at the negs they remind me of HP5. The base density is about the same too.

The base density actually surprised me a little. I'm a big fan of HP5 and should load a second body and shoot both side by side. I need to mix some D76 and see how it compares too.

Your samples do have a nice tonality.

Interesting to see your result. I have used HP5 only a few times.

My day is open tomorrow so I'll try to print some. I've adopted Bergger Warmtone FB gloss as my number 1 paper and will print on that. I'll do some good scans from the prints. IMO scanning the neg gives a different look than wet printing.

Their specification sheet gives rather detailed instructions about washing, including an initial rinse in 10% sulfite. Did you follow those instructions?

I didn't initial rinse it in sulfite. Just in DI water for 12 min

Fortunately it has absolutely nothing to do with the old APX 400 (which was the weakest / worst of Agfa's BW films; APX 25, APX 100 and Scala 200X were really great).

Bergger is a distribution company with only 2 guys. All of their products are made by real manufacturers (nothing wrong with that of course).
Panchro 400 is made by German film manufacturer InovisCoat:

InovisCoat was founded by former German Agfa engineers.
That Panchro 400 was developed and is made by InovisCoat is official: The Bergger CEO had confirmed it in an interview in a French photo magazine.

Panchro 400 has an emulsion with modern, current crystal technology (similar to T-Grain, but not as fine and high-resolving).

i ve been using .. trying this Bergger pancro for 3 months...

using with Rodinal.. my ussual technique.. not satisfactory
using it with Rollei Super Grain ... not my cup of tea
using with D76 like my local lab... somehow its not there...
experimenting with DDX then with Tmax Dev .. getting better .. but costly

HC110 dil B .. I like it 🙂

Have a few rolls to shoot. Curious whether anyone has tried this in Pyrocat-HD? I've been loving Ilford's FP4+ in Pyrocat-HD so much, I'd love to make it my standard. Seen a write up in French where the fellow used Pyrocat-HD to develop the Bergger, but on APUG, Bergger itself had problems with whatever version of Pyrocat they used.

We can get Berspeed (Bergger's developer) from Freestyle, and PMK from PhotoFormulary, but Bergger's PMK isn't available to my knowledge... and I"m not looking to use it anyway. May try a comparison of Pyrocat-HD and HC-110 at a similar dilution.
