Morocco..another glimpse.

The tourists that were here did not want to get their shoes/clothes get smelly and dirty as the catch was being downloaded/bought by the fishermen. And they had the big lenses catching the action from far!!

My wife went in, a few greetings and this with the D-Lux4..

p.s it helps if you speak Arabic and French!! And, of course English..in the shops!!

One really has to wander on their own to explore and discover hidden gems..

Time to wrap up this short journey. We have not shown the familiar, and undoubtedly important, tourist places in this short glimpse of Morocco.
That is not our intention. Lonely Planet, Frommer's etc. do a better job.

One journey or one lifetime cannot scratch the surface of the rich history and traditions of Maghreb and its people.

Here are a few images of the various cities as one might travel..

The vast Atlantic sweep along the promenade at Casablanca..

Along the coast down south..

Across the High Atlas Mountains...

Up again..heading West..

Towards Tangiers and beyond into the valleys. The home of the most famous traveler..Ibn Battuta. This too is Berber country. Lovely people, a proud people and a generous people..

But the desert you might ask!! Yes the desert. The Sahara..we shall leave that for another time.

But the Maghreb is about its people...go as a tourist, leave as a friend.
The people of Morocco make it that easy..

All it needs is respect for their traditions and their customs..

Reminds me of our trip to Marrakesh and the Atlas Mountains over 15 years ago - I must dig out my negs and have a look. Thanks for the excellent images.

Really appreciate your encouragement.

To the other question; we are not from Morocco, but from the same culture. We share the same traditions and sensitivities. For either of us, it is the same.

And we always photograph in full view of those that we photograph. And neither of us carries long lenses. In Morocoo or anywhere else.

As in any country, respecting a people's wishes shall make your stay a very memorable and pleasant one. And surprisingly a very photographically productive one too. Don't hesitate to ask politely!!, and move on if refused.

Great set of photos from Morocco.

I went to Tangiers / Meknes / Chefchaouen 20+ years ago and enjoyed it all (except for Tangiers which I thought was an awful place).

My wife and I have just got back from a week in Marrakesh / Essauoira. Probably the wrong time of year to go as it is ridiculously hot at 46-50 degrees celsius at midday. However, an interesting place and worth the visit. Sadly, the locals in Marrakesh are generally very anti street photography, so I just had to tough it out.

I posted a couple of shots in the gallery if you're interested.....
