Morocco or Tunisia?

My daughter and I are leaving in mid-August for a 90 day trip. Present schedule covers Scotland, Portugal/Spain and then Morocco.

Someone I know suggested Tunisia vice Morocco. Honestly, I know very little about either country and don't have much of a preference so for those of you that have traveled in both, which would it be?

The last country in the trip will be Malta which was suggested here flying home from Rome.

Wow! 90 days! With all that time, you should check out France, too. I hear wonderful things about Morocco from my French friend who is from there (pied noir).

Morocco may be safer these days than Tunisia.

I have a few photographer friends from France who've been to Morocco, it's absolutely beautiful no doubt, but it's also pretty touristy and apparently it's difficult to take pictures because of the local culture.
I don't know if this is the kind of detail that's important to you, but I'd pick Tunisia over Morocco for that

Everybody and his sister goes to Morocco these days. At least from Europe, as showed by these "photographer friends from France". It indeed is quite touristy, but the culture wouldn't be that different in Tunisia. I would choose Tunisia, however....

As long as you be careful and know what you're doing (or are travelling with somebody who does) Tunisia will be okay and much more special then Morocco. If you're in doubt, go to Morrocco.

Raid has it right - Morocco. personal view is that it is more photogenic too.

Marocco.

Very photogenic as said. And if it is a concern, probably i little safer. The medina in Marrakech is a very special place to get lost in.

I drove to Marocco from Sweden a couple of months ago and it is a very different place compared to northern europe. I would love to go back.

Morocco is great beautiful colours, you have to be a bit crafty if you are shooting street , architecture is great. August could be unbearably hot, I went in Feb and that was warm enough.

Well, we will be hiking the Great West Way in Scotland for the last part of August followed by Portugal/Spain and hiking part of the Camino de Santiago. We won't actually reach Morocco until early October.

I love Morocco, travelled there again recentlly, to a music event up in the Ahl SRif mountains. I'd found all the hassling oppressive in the past, but I just got used to it. Even in the well-known places, like the Jmaa el Fnaa, you can see and hear some amazing things.

Just bear in mind that whenever you're told of "a special event, today only," that you're being handed over to a salesman.

Went to Morocco in 1979, the last of a 16 country, 15 month journey through Africa. After the rest of the continent Morocco seemed so touristy in comparison. As others have suggested, it is incredibly beautiful and extremely photogenic. I also remember it as a place where the young kids could tell you to "Get F**ed" in about 5 languages. Never went to Tunisia because I'd hitched up through the Sahara from Niger into Southern Algeria. But absolutely loved Algeria and the people were fantastic. Unfortunately I've no idea whether it is safe or not these days.

We were leaving Tunisia, after a week there, just as the unrest that triggered "Arab Spring" had started, my wife and I both agree that it was the one place we've been to that we were glad to be heading back home.

Tunisia is not a smart place to go to, especially if you're American.
