Mortal Kombat. 50mm battle

Photography can be great fun. Banging one's head against the wall, repeatedly, (like so: :bang::bang::bang:), is not so much fun.:)

Nugard, you need relax a lot. Maybe fishing or travel in wild country :D One has to start somewhere. I have a lot of "bad lenses" but it was much fun to use them. It doesnt matter a lot for anything because one can always buy more lenses and sell. Let's say your dream is Lux Asph, so live med "mediocre" lenses for a while before you get what you want. Buy Industar 11, Jupter 8, 3 with M mount adapter, Canon 50/1.5, Nikkor 1.4 or whatever :) So you have live in pain for a while because it is not leica, hehe. I have so much fun by browsing Cron pics taken with Rd1 yesterday. Wow, really mindblowing rendering though 30 years old optics.

Nugard,
Save yourself some money and at the same time get modern lens technology... the Voigtlander 50/1.5 Nokton or the 50/2 Collapsible Heliar. They both produce lovely images. I've used both and currently have the Heliar. The build quality is excellent. Check out www.cameraquest.com for more info.

Hi Nugard

No, of course you don't have to use, or buy, Leica as your first lens. You can buy anything you like, and when you become famous and have several Leica lenses tell people that you've always shot Leica

I've owned the latest 50mm summicron and the latest 50mm elmar-M at the same time and happily sold the summicron. The Summicron is a marginally sharper lens at f2.8, but I prefer the imaging of the elmar-M overall. I love the out of focus blurring and the contrast of the elmar-M. The way it draws the edges of the individual image elements is far better to me.

I have also been looking at people's work with the Zeiss Planar (work prints and internet images) and I prefer the Planar. I think the contrast and drawing of the image elements is much more pleasing than my Summicron managed. I also reckon the flare handling is better. Plus, and this is a serious plus, you will have some money left over to buy film, or put towards another lens. Don't think that by buying Zeiss you are doing your camera a disservice.

THANKS EVERYONE!!!

I have decided.
Right now I have two variants. cron 50mm fifth or planar. I decided to buy summicron as first. If for some reason I don't like it, I always can sell it and buy planar...

Maybe it's little unreasonably, but I need to try it... And as someone said, IT DON'T REALLY MATTER WHERE DO YOU GET, IT'S THE WAY THAT YOU PASSED...

So, I'm just on my way ;)
