When I received this package, the first thing I thought was : What have I purchased so heavy ?
It is a HUGE camera ! when I opened : dusty all the way, two light leaks in the bellow , but cristal clear lens, and a crisp shutter sound.
The rangefinder had to be re-set.
After repair, I made my own 6X6 mask because I had not an enlarger that can take 6X9 negatives. (took a CD case, cut it, paint it in black, add some self adhesive black flocking sheet)
The first roll shows the following things :
The images are sharp with nice tones. Not as sharp as my Minolta Autocord, but OK for this brand of folding camera.
The enlargement shows that from f/5.6 to f/22 the results are good, with the better between f11 and f16 (where there is the red dot !)
I think I will continue to use it, for some time, but it is definitely not the kind of camera to hold in your pocket ! If you do so and fall in a lake, be carefull because you will immediatly sank...:D
On the picture you can see it with a '30's french tripod (1.5meter extended).

Too bad you have had such bad luck with your Moskva. Do you know that it will take the same size filters as the Iskra? 32.5 I believe.
I don't understand why they eliminated this feature from the Moskva 5 model which is easier to handle..
Using an Autocord is entirely different, I was given a beatup copy but has given me great results.

Cool, enjoy it!
On photo.net classical cameras forum, there's a guy (ce nelson i think) who regularly posted some shots with a moskva-5, lately. Amazing stuff!!! Apparently his camera is sharp enough wide-open. Are you sure you've set the rangefinder as accurate as possible?

By the way, the red dot on these folders usually are there to indicate the aperture setting for the hyperfocal distance - distance scale has a red dot too.

The problem with my rangefinder on this camera is that it is used, and when I move the focus ring for a quarter of a turn, the RF dosn't really moves. So I calibrate it in a way I can use it only when turning the ring from close distance to infinity. If I overpass my subject, I come back half a turn, then re-focus...
